What does your typical day look like?
As one of Shipt’s senior shopper recruiters, every day is different. Our team spends the day watching digital interviews, responding to emails and making sure our applicants have everything they need to get through the recruitment process efficiently. I have watched a lot of interviews and it has been so great to experience Shipt’s growth over the past three years. I get to work with such a wide range of people who are brought together through Shipt and it’s exciting to be a part of this effort.
What excites you most about your job?
I just celebrated my three year anniversary at Shipt and it’s been such an incredible journey watching our team grow. When I first joined the team, we had three people – now we have more than ten recruiters that make our work possible. We all truly care about each other and we work hard to make sure everyone is successful.
What did you do before Shipt?
Before I joined HQ, I was actually a Shipt Shopper! I have three kids and was a stay-at-home mom for a long time, but once the youngest was old enough, I decided to look for a flexible job. I signed up to be a Shipt Shopper and not long after, I was offered a job at HQ. My background isn’t in HR or recruiting, however – I have a degree in Biology. I used to work in a research lab that tested treatments for breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. While I still love science, I’ve enjoyed how many different people I get to work with every day at Shipt.
What’s your favorite meal to make with your family?
My kids are 15, 9 and 7 years old so finding something that everyone will eat can be difficult. But we somehow all agree on homemade chicken enchiladas. Everyone in the family gets involved making the sauce, the chicken and topping everything with cheese, salsa and sour cream. It’s a staple in our house and we probably make them three times a month.
What was your most exciting Shipt order?
Before it was available via Shipt, my family and I would always dedicate Friday nights to shop at Target. When Target was finally on the marketplace, my little ones were so excited because they knew they could get everything from toys to movies to snacks through Shipt. Our first Target order included Pokemon cards for my youngest, who still thinks it’s so cool that Target comes right to our door. Our Shipt Shopper even got the last Pokemon pack that was available that day! It was a Friday night of celebration at our house.
What’s the photo on your home screen right now?
My home screen is a picture of my family on the beach at sunrise. We spent the Fourth of July in Palm Coast, Florida, just outside of Daytona. It was such a fun weekend and we loved watching the fireworks over the ocean. On our last day, I really wanted to see the sunrise over the coastline. As you can imagine, wrangling three kids in the early morning was a difficult task. We had to wake up at five to get to the beach by sunrise at six. We were tired but it was so worth it and the kids even enjoyed it. I encourage everyone to wake up to watch the sunrise over the water.
What’s your secret weapon?
My secret weapon is honesty. I’m completely honest with everyone I work with, which can sometimes be scary and uncomfortable. I’d rather be completely honest with someone than lead them astray. It’s my job to help other people get a job or provide constructive feedback to help them in the future. Honesty is a big part of our mission at Shipt because we want our shoppers to build trusting relationships with members. I do my best to lead by example by being honest with everyone on my team and those I interview.
What’s your favorite Shipt memory?
My favorite memory at Shipt was finding out Target acquired us. Everyone from our shoppers to our HQ team members have worked hard to make Shipt possible and felt so good to celebrate with my teammates in that moment. I’m so proud of how quickly and efficiently Shipt is able to expand.
What’s been your favorite project that you’ve worked on at Shipt?
My team doesn’t work on a lot of projects but I’ve really enjoyed watching the growth of both my team and Shipt as a company since I started. For a long time, we conducted interviews through Skype and FaceTime which was time-consuming and relied on the availability of both parties. When we transitioned away from that process to now having pre-recorded interviews it has made our recruiting process easier and more efficient. It has been exciting watching our jobs streamline as the company continues to become more advanced.
Complete this sentence: I love working at Shipt because…
Everyone genuinely cares for each other here. For my three year anniversary, my coworkers surprised me with cake, balloons, flowers and champagne. We all want each other to succeed here and we celebrate our milestones, big or small. I look forward to work every day because I know we’re making a positive impact on shoppers, members and all of us here at HQ.
