What did Shipt look like back when you started?
I was the second person hired to the marketing team but my role extended beyond that. Since there were so few of us, we all wore a bunch of different hats. My day to day tasks ranged from creating content to leading new campaigns to answering customer service calls. We all had to do a little bit of everything and we were one big family. One of my favorite memories was taking customer service calls directly across from our CEO Bill Smith and having the opportunity to listen to him talk about Shipt. I loved seeing someone in his position speak directly with customers and shoppers, and it was so nice to hear him put people first.
What’s one item that’s always on your grocery list?
Avocados for making homemade guacamole, and jalapenos or hot sauce. My guacamole needs to be spicy.
If you could deliver groceries to anyone in the world, who would it be?
Jensen Ackles from “Supernatural” – I love everything about sci-fi and scary movies. Fall is my favorite season because it’s spooky season, and I love dressing up for Halloween. This year, I dressed up as Daphne from “Scooby-Doo” and my two dogs went as Scooby and Scrappy Doo. I have a hound and a Yorkie, so I guess you could say it was meant to be.
What’s been your favorite project at Shipt?
One of my favorite projects has been the “Give1Get1” campaign. The first year we did this, I was able to be hands-on in the campaign planning and I got to do a variety of different things. I was leading projects, writing blog posts and doing all I could to get the word out to our members. The way the initiative worked was our members would buy specific products through the app, and for every item purchased we would donate a can to a food bank for Thanksgiving. At the end of the campaign, I had the opportunity to fly to Miami and deliver two truckloads of cans to local food banks.
Complete this sentence: I love working at Shipt because….
Shipt is all about helping people. We’re creating opportunities for our shoppers to make their own schedule and we’re helping members who might be extremely busy or unable to go to the store. On social media, we hear stories every day about how much Shipt has changed people’s lives. I love being a part of a company that’s making a difference.
