What does your typical day look like?
I really look forward to coming into work every morning. Shipt takes care of us – we have a full fridge and really delicious, fresh coffee. First, I start off with breakfast and greeting everybody. Then I settle into a desk on the 4th floor to handle calls, chats, and emails coming in from both Shipt Shoppers and members. There is never a typical day at Shipt – some days are quiet and others are busy for all kinds of reasons. Luckily, my communication is split evenly between shoppers, members, and potential shoppers and members so there’s never a dull moment.
What did you do before Shipt?
Prior to Shipt, I graduated college with an art degree. I really like to paint and I’ve created two murals at local Birmingham restaurants. I hope to one day create a mural for Shipt HQ! After college, while I was continuing to focus on my artwork, I also taught yoga and served at a local BBQ restaurant.
What’s your favorite meal to make for or enjoy with your family?
My family loves grilling outside. I live with my sister and we will either visit our parents in Georgia or convince them to come to our house in Birmingham. We love to make anything from burgers to kabobs to ribs, and even grilled pineapple! I’m a big fan of grilled veggies (and the pineapple).
You’re making a PB&J. White or wheat? Crunchy or creamy? Strawberry or grape jelly? Any wacky ingredients on top (bacon, pickles, etc.)?
Wheat bread. Creamy. Grape. I like to add a dash of cinnamon and cayenne pepper to spice things up!
What’s always on your grocery list?
These days, I always have kombucha or kimchi on my grocery list. They’re just really delicious. I really like classic steamed rice and kimchi (or add it to ramen). My favorite flavors of kombucha are ginger and turmeric.
What’s the most unexpected item in your fridge right now?
The most unexpected item in my fridge right now would have to be cheesecake! I try to steer clear from desserts, but I usually have chocolate ice cream in my freezer.
What’s the last book you read?
The last book I read was Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur. Her writing is really empowering and relatable. Reading poetry is also very calming and can be helpful when thinking about the bigger picture at work. Rupi also started from scratch and didn’t mean to become a writer. She’s inspiring to me as I continue to pursue my passion for art.
What’s the photo on your home screen?
My home screen is one of my paintings. My work is based on movement, especially with the human form. Right now I’m working with the female figure, using movement and growth, and patterns that symbolize nature (flowers, trees, etc.). My art is all about how present movement and growth in our own lives.
Complete this sentence: I love working at Shipt because….
…it’s a positive and upbeat environment where I can be myself. I’m surrounded by really positive people working towards the same goal. I love Shipt because we’re a unique take on customer service. Shipt creates an environment where we all can be ourselves and this flows into how we relate to the members. Each interaction with a member or shopper is personalized, so I can joke and chat with the callers because Shipt encourages us to put people first in our customer service.
