Charlotte’s Ready for On-Demand Grocery Delivery
As you may have heard, the next city on Shipt’s list of grocery delivery domination is none other than Charlotte, North Carolina. We started delivering groceries this week, and our team could not be more excited.
So far, we have received an incredibly warm welcome from the community, and we are learning quickly about some of the unique assets that make Charlotte one of Forbes’ Best Places for Business and Careers.
One of those assets is Charlotte’s Packard Place. Our company is driven by innovation and collaboration, so we’re excited to see an incubator like Packard Place promoting high-growth businesses in their space. Also, we learned recently that Not Just Coffee will be moving into the facility, which gives us another big reason to visit (caffeine is the driving force behind some of the best innovations, right?).
Business is important (especially for a Southern startup like Shipt), but we love Charlotte for very selfish reasons too. At our home office in Birmingham, Ala., we have several Auburn University fans – please ignore the current season – so they’re thrilled that Shipt is now associated with AU star Cam Newton’s home away from home. In fact, the Panthers are currently undefeated, which gives our ‘War Eagle’ people one thing to cheer about.
For the members of our team that are more culturally inclined, The Mint Museum provides a great opportunity to explore global art and design. Since our inception as a company, we have embraced science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) – especially in our app development. That being said, we also appreciate the arts, which is why we often use the acronym STE(A)M in our office.
When it’s time to take a break from the computer screen, our team is ready to get outside and navigate the Little Sugar Creek Greenway. Although still in development, the Greenway offers Charlotte residents and visitors an opportunity to escape the indoors and explore the fantastic natural beauty of the area. We have a feeling that many of our team members (we look at screens most of the day) will take full advantage of the fresh air and beautiful sights on the trail.
