Local Love: 30A Gulf Coast Must-do’s!
Shipters, 30A is a different world. It’s a special section of the Gulf Coast with stretches of sparkling sands and sprawling bike lanes. It’s enchanting. Each beach along the coast has its own personality and community with pockets of charm and character everywhere.
We launched Shipt in the 30A area a few weeks ago, and we couldn’t be prouder to be in the area. It’s a land of architectural whimsy, local arts, handcrafted goods and lovingly-made food anchored by generous business owners and familial communities. We are so in love. And we just needed to tell you about some of our favorite places.
We aren’t ashamed of how much we love coffee (yes, we have a pour-over station at HQ). Luckily 30A isn’t in short supply of the good stuff. Amavida Coffee offers a cool break from the crowds and heat with locally roasted Fair Trade coffees, keeping you full of energy and happiness all day long.

Their white exterior and cozy interior had us craving their beautiful pastries and a good beachside book.
Raw & Juicy kept us hydrated and feeling fresh with their vibrant juices and edible offerings (think veggie bowls and chia puddings!). La Crema serves up drool-worthy tapas and yes, chocolate-peanut butter fondue. If your sweet tooth isn’t satisfied, head to La Loba’s. We tried their peanut butter cookies, chocolate puddles, and even veggie burritos. All winners, we promise. While you’re in the area, check out For The Health of It next door, 30A’s beloved neighborhood organic market.
If a quick snack and beach essentials are what you’re looking for, locally-owned Modica Market will answer the call. For an even quicker snack, swing by Charlie’s Donut and Yogurt Truck to cool down and sugar up. For a slower pace and something to savor, George’s at Aly Beach is perfect for unwinding in a classic cottage cafe.
Art of Simple in Seaside is full of Southern knick-knacks, locally-crafted goods and displays of home, bath and accessories galore. From East coasters (heh) to unique housewares to specialty books and games, it’s a charming stop for gifts and goodies!
Need a book (or coloring book or board game or magazine or anything fun and quirky) on the way to the beach? Sundog Books is a 30A staple that houses all things poetic and thoughtful. Walking through the shop, it’s hard not to feel at home between the aisles of familiar books and novels unread! Right upstairs from Sundog is another essential 30A landmark, Central Square Records. This hole-in-the-wall brought back memories of small house concerts and swaying to indie summer tunes. It’s stocked with all the records you could hope for and more for your hidden treasure-loving soul. Quincy Ave. Art and Things is also a short stroll away for all your artsy needs. Peruse paintings, novelty items and art supplies! There’s a small, serene greenspace nearby that’s just asking for a midday sun soak and a journal.
Our favorite part about traveling is parking our ship(t)s somewhere and getting a little lost. It’s such a simple way to get acquainted with a place and the people that foster it. 30A makes it easy, because the entire coastal stretch is incredibly bike-friendly. It’s a cyclists dream.
Walk around Rosemary Beach for cobblestone streets that transport you to another world. Gas lanterns, grand homes and bubbling fountains, Rosemary is teeming with sights, flavors and hidden streets to explore.
Seaside Beach is a family-favorite. With a row of food trucks and a wide variety of shops and eateries, you’ll want to save a whole afternoon to discover what this community has to offer.
Last but not least, we had heart-eyes for Alys Beach. Characterized by white buildings and homes, this little coastal town stands out. Every building had its own magical details: a gigantic desert plant here, a wall of ivy there.
Each part of Alys feels like a dream…or a well-manicured movie. Make sure to stop by Neat for a curated bottle shop experience! We can’t wait to get back to 30A and can’t wait for you to either. And hooray, you can take your Shipt membership with you! (If you don’t have one, check out our vacation package. Get your groceries Shipt just while you’re at the beach. Magic!)
Thanks for loving us so well, 30A. And, welcome to the Shipt Family.
To you Shipters, we wish you all the sun and smiles. In the meantime, we’ll get the groceries!
