Local Love: Going Coastal
With summer in full swing, we couldn’t think of a better time to launch grocery delivery on the coast of Alabama. Mobile and Gulf Shores are so close to home we can practically smell the beach from our Birmingham HQ.
Not too sure where to start when you head to the coast? Here’s a quick list of our favorite places to visit while in Mobile and the Gulf Shores.

Spot of Tea
Spot of Tea is known for its hometown feel mixed with deep southern cooking. Established in 1994, this restaurant has become a Mobile institution. The floor panels, rustic outdoor patio, and good food remind us of a visit to Grandma’s house. Breakfast lovers will rejoice at this menu – make sure to try the pecan waffles.

Mobile Carnival Museum
This eccentric museum displays the rich history behind Mardi Gras in Mobile. From intricate designs to historic photographs, the Mobile Carnival Museum offers tours and lessons of past Mardi Gras monarchs. We highly recommend a tour with one of their many amusing tour leaders. You’ll be enchanted while laughing at all the fun stories behind Mardi Gras.

USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park
We were thrilled to visit this memorial park in Mobile. The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park captured our hearts with its rich history and views. It’s also filled with notable aircrafts and ships that you can tour for free.
These are just a few of the many things you can do in Mobile, Alabama. Now let’s head a little further south to the white sands of Gulf Shores.

The Yard Milkshake Bar
If the food art doesn’t impress you at first glance, the first bite will. The Yard Milkshake Bar offers an array of milkshakes, ice creams, and cookie doughs – eight flavors to be exact. We thought we’d seen it all, but this milkshake bar proved us wrong. Order a specialty dessert or make your own tower of tastiness. Top your frozen treat with almost anything. From candy to cheesecake, the options are endless at The Yard Milkshake Bar.

Gulf State Park Fishing Pier
Bait a hook and toss a fishing line at the Gulf State Park Fishing Pier. This public fishing pier is the perfect place to spend a day. If you’re a wildlife lover, you’re in for a treat. The park is home to animals of all shapes and sizes. Seagulls, fish, and sea turtles are just some of the many creatures you’ll find near this 2,000+ foot pier.
Pack a bag, pick up your friends, and hit the beach! Make everyday feel like a vacation this summer. And since you can take grocery shopping off your to-do list, here are a few things you do on the shore instead:
- Build a sandcastle
- Walk along the shoreline
- Place a Shipt order and get a beach snack delivered directly to you
- Collect seashells
- Read a good book
