Local Love: When in Winston-Salem
Winston-Salem is one of those cities you just can’t get enough of. With summer gardens in bloom all over town, we couldn’t help but fall for this artsy town. The warm welcomes and southern hospitality from our newest partner, Lowes Foods, and other locals made us feel right at home.
We had the opportunity to explore Winston-Salem and a few of its hidden treasures. Here’s a list of our favorite finds in the Twin City of Art and Innovation.
First things first: coffee. This dine-in is a local favorite for a reason. The dark roasted blend is the perfect boost for any Monday blues. Krankie’s menu varies throughout the day and transforms into a bar during evening hours. Our favorite breakfast bite was the chicken biscuit. It’s layered in Texas Pete sauce and topped with sweet tupelo honey for the ultimate sweet ‘n spicy biscuit.
With summer in full swing, what’s better than spending a night under the stadium lights with family and friends? Home to the Minor League team, The Dash, this home field is located in the heart of Winston-Salem. Grab a hotdog and crack some peanuts while cheering on the team.
There’s always time to stop and smell the roses at Reynolda Gardens. The rolling hills are filled with every type of flower, shrubbery, and mossy tree you can imagine. We found that our very own Shipt green complements the garden quite nicely this time of year.
Bailey Park captures a view of the city skyline from any given angle. It’s the perfect place to pack a picnic and play games with the family. If you don’t like sitting in the grass, the park offers a covered patio that overlooks downtown.

Sweet Potatoes (Well Shut My Mouth) A Restaurant
Known for its deep-fried sweet potatoes and chicken, Sweet Potatoes is an award-winning restaurant in Winston-Salem. We cherish our southern roots at Shipt and found ourselves at home in this cozy restaurant.

Carolina Creamery and Cookies
Carolina Creamery and Cookies is a blast from the past with its modern take on the old-time ice cream parlor. The shop offers everything from vintage soda to double dipped ice cream. Take a break from the summer heat and cool off with a sweet treat.
Thanks for the warm welcome, Winston-Salem. We’re so happy to have landed here and plan to be back to try more tasty treats soon.
