We’ve launched a new feature in the Shipt app making it easier than ever to get exactly what you need. Now, you can choose backup options before placing an order to proactively suggest substitutions to your shopper if your preferred item is not available.
You know that feeling when items on your shopping list are out of stock – especially when it’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Introducing a built-in backup plan, so you can build your cart with confidence to get what you need, minus the headache.
Here’s how it works: When you add an item to your cart, click Add Instructions. You’ll be prompted to add notes, if you have a specific preference, or select a backup option of your choice, in case your item is out of stock. When you choose “Get a backup item,” the Shipt app will automatically generate a list of similar options or you can choose your own through search.
And just like that, member and shopper have ensured that the right brand and flavor of ice cream is on the way – without the extra back and forth. Of course, you’ll still have the ability to chat with your shopper as usual.
But wait: it gets better. All of your backup options are saved under your member personal preferences for future orders. Changed your mind? You can edit or remove the backup from the product page before you check out.
