New things are happening here every day, ideas bouncing around like a Pin Ball machine. We have a few whiteboard walls at the office and every day more and more arrows, bulleted lists, question marks and exclamation points are added. You should see them- a mixture of mad scientist/inventor and detective, all just new ideas.
I heard a quote from Thomas Edison once on inventing the lightbulb. I’m sure you’ve heard it.
“I haven’t failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
Do you know how he found all those ways that won’t work? He tried new things. He had new ideas, came up with new adjustments, all the while keeping his ultimate goal the priority.
That’s what we’re doing too. We want to get stuff to you- fast. Really fast. Faster than you can say Thomas Edison.
Whether it be your retail orders or your family’s dinner or groceries (yes, groceries- more on that later), we want to make it happen for you. We are learning every day more about what you want, we are making adjustments along the way, we are coming up with ways to make it better. And while we’re learning, we’re building the technology to make it happen.
If we’re being honest, this is a city where new things don’t really happen very often. Unless it has to do with collegiate sports, nothing happens here first.
But now Birmingham is waking up. There’s boutiques and coffee shops and degree programs popping up on every block. There’s business men walking in to abandoned buildings and grabbing a broom, able to see so much potential in those shattered windows. There’s t-shirts and artwork on street corners, telling Birmingham that it is beautiful. And that it’s so nice to have you here.
Thanks, Birmingham. We’re pretty pumped to be here too. And we cannot wait to see where these new ideas take us.
