1) What excites you most about your job?

At Shipt, I love that I can put my own flair into the designs I make – that’s not always the case at bigger companies that have strict design guidelines. The level of hands-on work – literally, I’ve been a hand model in photoshoots! – is really unique. It’s rewarding to see my work out in the world. A friend recently sent me a photo of a flyer he received in Philly that I made. I love that my work isn’t just valued internally, but seen, consumed, and appreciated all over the country.

2) What’s your favorite meal to make for or enjoy with your family?

Lasagna is my absolute favorite. It’s been my go-to dish since I started cooking in high school. Growing up, my family had a ton of kids cookbooks and watched a lot of Food Network. I used to make my sisters record me pretending to have my own cooking show, that’s how much I’ve always loved cooking!

Now I’m living my childhood dream by creating my own cooking show through my Instagram account, cookingwithreese, where I try new recipes. It’s all live on my Instagram Story, so sometimes they’re wins, sometimes they’re fails. I miss my friends and family on the East Coast, so creating the account is a way to share my passion for cooking and keep my loved ones updated on my latest culinary adventures.

3) What’s the most unexpected item in your fridge right now?

A container of miso paste. I made a dairy free, miso sesame dressing for a cooking challenge which turned out really good! I did the Bon Appétit Feel Good Meal Plan challenge back in January as a way to restart healthy eating without restricting myself on a rigorous diet. Even though I only did it for a week and a half, it was a fun way to try new recipes. Now I have no idea what I’ll use the miso paste for next!

4) What’s the last book you read?

I’m in the middle of “House of God” by Samuel Shem. My fiancé is a surgical intern and I wanted to get a sense for what his life is like (outside of binging on Grey’s Anatomy). I’m also reading “One More Thing” by B.J. Novak to mix in some light, fun stories too!

5) What’s your favorite Shipt memory?

One of my favorite Shipt memories is the day we were acquired by Target. It was also my birthday, so it doubled the excuse to pop champagne!

But I think my all-time favorite memory was a smaller win. We were doing a breakfast themed photoshoot, and I had to cook eggs and bacon just right so they would look good on camera. I whipped up some eggs, sprinted with the pan over to the photo studio, snapped a picture, and was delighted when it came out perfectly! As a chef and designer, I was proud of my egg making abilities and loved how I could share a crave-worthy photo with the Shipt community in my own little way.

6) If you could deliver groceries to anyone in the world, who would it be?

Chrissy Teigen – she loves to cook (I love her cookbook, Cravings!) and frequently uses delivery services. When we finally launch in her city, I hope she’ll give Shipt a try – I’d love to be the one who delivers her first Shipt order! It would be fun to help her make the next delicious recipe she’s cooking up and sharing on social media.

7) What did you do before Shipt?

I worked for Major League Soccer at NBC Universal in New York City. I was in a similar role, but in a very different industry and company. My fiancé and I moved to San Francisco last summer, which is when I started at Shipt. I love being at a startup that is continually growing, evolving, and making an impact on people’s lives.

8) Why Shipt?

When I was looking for a new job in San Francisco, a priority was finding somewhere with a strong company culture. As I learned more about Shipt, it became evident they had a friendly, fun, family-like dynamic. As a designer, your environment is naturally hands-on and creative, but a truly positive, supportive culture was important to me. At a lot of companies, you don’t have the opportunity to really own something to the same degree I do at Shipt. I love having a say in what I create and working on a lot of different projects.

9) What’s your secret weapon?

A positive attitude. I’m naturally an optimistic person. Whenever I go into a difficult situation, I try to remain positive and excited about working through whatever it may be. Even if it’s going to be tough, having an optimistic outlook helps you succeed.

10) I love working at Shipt because….

My team is amazing. We have each others’ back. I enjoy working with people who have the same goal as me – to do work we’re proud of and show the world how incredible Shipt is. If you’re going to spend most of your waking hours with the people you work with, you want to like them! I feel lucky that I love our squad.
