#ShiptLife Community: Kulture City and JVTF

Have we told you lately about how much we love our home city?!

Well, we’re going to say it again. Loud and proud. We love you, Birmingham! You’re growing and booming, and you’re just so beautiful and fun.

We feel lucky to take part in Bham’s journey of revitalization and growth. There are groups and individuals all over town that are hustling to make a difference not only in the area but all over the world.

And we want to celebrate two incredible organizations that we’ve been so honored to work with!

KultureCity is devoted to Autism Awareness and Autism Acceptance with an amazing motto, “Our children might have autism, but autism does not have them.”

One of the ways that they work toward their mission is by distributing lifeBOKS, which empower children with Autism and their parents with the right tools to give them more freedom in their everyday lives.

Each lifeBOKS contains BuddyTags, SmartKids ID bracelets, SafetyTats, and window/ door alarms that alert parents when their children may be at risk of danger. We got to deliver these free kits right before Christmas, along with bags that KC filled with toys and a Kindle Fire for each family.

One of the best parts?

Some of the families didn’t know that they would be receiving a lifeBOKS! KutureCity allows anyone the ability to get on the website and nominate a family in need, no matter the situation.

An unexpecting mother bear-hugged our Shipt shopper that was delivering her child’s lifeBOKS, as tears rolled down her face. What an honor to be a part of that.

In the past 5 years, KultureCity has been able to supply over 500 lifeBOKS to families in need all over the country. You’re changing the world, KC!

We have an unwavering  love for Jones Valley. This is one group that is so engaged in Birmingham and makes such a visible, wholesome and delicious impact on the city. JVTF equips children and communities with nutrition education, along with resources to cook vibrant meals and grow their own ingredients.

We’re always excited to take part in JVTF’s Family Kitchens & Nutrition Kits! Ten families a week learn to cook a healthy, budget-friendly meal and leave with the proper tools and ingredients to prepare the meal again at home.

JVTF also works with city schools to teach kids how to cook with the very produce that they grow in the program. We dispatch a Shipt shopper to bring the rest of the ingredients the chefs-in-training may need!

It’s amazing to see our city grow. And we are so grateful to work and serve alongside such a generous community of world-changers.

We can’t wait to see what KC and JVTF will continue to do! #dreamteams
