The Sourcing Process

Supplier certification and onboarding are critical components of supplier management at Shipt. Our goal is to deliver a streamlined procurement experience based on our key business requirements and a transparent sourcing process. We execute this experience via our Workday Strategic Sourcing and Workday procurement applications.

In addition to proof of certification by a certifying agency, specific qualifications (e.g., cybersecurity, data privacy, etc.) are required for certain business areas and product/service groups. The number and type of qualifications depend on the industry of the suppliers’ business.

  • Step 1

The qualification process is primarily initiated by Shipt Procurement and Sourcing representatives after the supplier registration is completed. Invited suppliers will receive an email to register in the Workday Strategic Sourcing (WSS) portal.

If a supplier already has a WSS account, they will log in to their account and start the supplier onboarding form completion process. Supplier onboarding is a prerequisite for setting up each supplier’s purchase profile and accounts payable record.

  • Step 2

The Shipt Sourcing representative will invite qualified suppliers to participate in the Request for Proposal (RFP) process. In order to participate in RFPs and direct purchase opportunities via the WSS, suppliers must complete the registration process. Registration is free for suppliers. If you need to follow the process, you will be prompted by email to register for Requests for Information (RFIs), RFPs and/or eAuctions via Workday Strategic Sourcing.

  • Step 3

Upon completion of the sourcing event (RFI, RFP, direct purchase, etc.), Shipt Sourcing representatives will move the selected supplier(s) to the award phase of the sourcing process. In this phase, the supplier will engage with Shipt Sourcing to execute a contract and any additional documentation required for insurance, data privacy, third-party risk management, etc. If required, the legal representatives will engage in this phase to draft acceptable contract terms and conditions that are mutually aligned for contract execution.

  • Step 4

Once all contract documents have been executed, the awarded supplier(s) will be engaged by Shipt Procurement to review and release a purchase order for the awarded contract. The purchase order will be used to confirm all commercial terms of the contract and for billing/invoicing by the supplier. Shipt Procurement will require that each invoice include the associated purchase order number on the corresponding invoice(s).
