2016 Illusionist is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. The fruit was sourced from our estate blocks planted in Walla Walla, Red Mtn., and The Horse Heaven Hills Ava's. It was aged for 20 months in French oak, of which 64% were new barrels. 2016 was a warm vintage in Washington, and it left an indelible thumbprint on the final wine. It has a beautiful, deep red cherry color, with a gorgeous, savory nose of leather, tobacco, black cherries, vanilla bean, and warm spices. Flavors of plums, dark chocolate, blackberries, and savory herbs are followed by rich, plush tannins, and fresh acidity that will ensure that this wine ages gracefully for the next 15-20 years.
