The vineyard slopes to the southeast and is comprised of well-draining glacial loam. Soft morning sun promotes slower grape maturation and longer hang times in this secluded micro-climate. Rarely do vineyard conditions afford a winemaker the opportunity to make a wine such as this. With its massive layering and pronounced grip, Nick Goldschmidt pushes the stylistic boundary of Alexander Valley Cabernet. Deep purple-red, blueberry and cherry aromas and flavors. Black cherry, sweet plums, and currant fruits are paired with smoky oak, dried herbs, and caramel. This wine has considerable grip that will soften with age. The key for this wine is to show that we can make killer wine in the Alexander Valley as well. Not just in Napa. Big and rich nose. The most complex style of wine possible.
