10 Reasons Being a Shipt Shopper is Super Awesome

Ten Reasons Being a Shipt Shopper is Super Awesome

Shipt Shoppers are fabulous. If you have met one, then you already know. You’d certainly feel fabulous if you were partnering with a tech startup shopping for groceries for serious dough. But why did they decide to take on the responsibility of shopping for someone else? Here are 10 reasons why being a Shipt Shopper is super awesome.

1. You become an expert grocery shopper.

Shipt Shoppers are well-versed in selecting produce, and achieve accuracy with every order. They also learn how to navigate the aisles faster than you can say “gluten-free baking flour.” This is a skill that takes most years to achieve, but after a few shops, Shipt Shoppers pretty much have grocery shopping down to a fine art, fast.

2. Jam sessions happen all day.

Sometimes you just need an excuse to hop in your car and let loose your inner Beyonce. Second to the shower, your voice will never sound better than it does in the car. As a Shipt Shopper, you’ll get paid to sing in your car. Between shopping and delivering groceries, Shipt Shoppers really hone their falsetto.

3. Be Your Own Boss

Let’s be honest, who hasn’t had a terrible boss? Don’t let the man keep you down! Now is your chance to take control. Work as much or as little as your heart desires. Being an independent contractor means you are your own boss.

4. You get to meet new people.

Shipt Shoppers are social beings. They come in contact with people constantly. Whether it is bonding with your ‘regular’ grocery bagger, or chatting with your customer when you deliver their second order that week, there is always someone to meet.

5. Set your own schedule!

Not only do Shipt Shoppers make their own schedules, the schedules are extremely flexible. From 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. seven days a week, there is always a time to pick up a delivery. It’s even a great opportunity for a stay-at-home mom or college kid to make some extra money.

6. Helping others always feels good.

Whether it is delivering to an elderly person who might not be able to get around as well as they used to, or delivering to a working parent who just wants one extra hour a day to spend with their kids, knowing that you helped them out gives most Shipt Shoppers a warm, fuzzy feeling. People truly find grocery delivery valuable to their day-to-day life. It’s a feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment that you can’t just find anywhere.

7. The Green Shirt.

Shipt Shoppers get to wear the COOLEST shirt when they shop and deliver groceries. It is the greatest color green that is honestly flattering on everybody. Everyone in the grocery store recognizes the look and you feel like a local grocery celebrity walking through the store. People will literally stop and ask you what you do. Plus it has the Shipt logo on it. It’s a spaceship. Enough said.

8. Let’s be real: It pays really well.

You make $15 — $25 an hour, all on your own time. WOW. Just after doing a few deliveries, Shipt Shoppers are pretty much raking in the cash.

9. Break free from the 9-to-5.

Some people were not designed to sit at a desk indoors for eight hours a day. This opportunity gives hope to the people in need of some wide open spaces. Shipt Shoppers get to move around and get out into the great outdoors all while still make money.

10. It’s really fun.

This fact just kind of ties all the others together. Doesn’t all of this just sound like a good time? Driving around, listening to music, setting your own schedule, meeting people… doesn’t sound like “work” to me.

11. FREE MEMBERSHIP!!!!!!

Did we say ten reasons? Here’s a MAJOR bonus. Yep, you heard us. As long as you are a Shipt Shopper, you have a free grocery delivery membership for yourself. What could be better?

When are you coming to VA? (Specifically, Northern Virginia near DC) I’m a top full service contract shopper with Instacart and I can tell you they’ve barely scratched the surface of the market here!

We tried Instacart here in Charlotte, NC. I’m from NYC and don’t drive, so if my husband isn’t well I have to ask a neighbor for help (I’m not good at asking favors). The Instacart delivery people didn’t seem very happy about the company, one even warned us about some of their hidden charges that imply the money goes to a tip — I caught on to that one before I heard it as Instacart has a “service charge” (which they don’t tell you, but you can waive it – it’s always 10% of your order. What if you ordered just an expensive bottle of wine? $100 and they’ll ask for $10 in delivery fees. Then they ask for how much you want to add to the order for a tip; $5, $10, $15, $20, more. . .or did you want to get the order first and let them know after you received your order. Like HELL! We give cash tips based on how big the order is and how much time the shopper had to spend looking for everything. If you don’t click on their suggested tips you have to click on “NONE”. What B.S! I always wrote we only do cash tips for the sake of the shopper who is by the way your delivery person. Instacart implies that your shopper may well hand your items over to a deliver person (B.S.!!!) All of our Instacart people stayed in touch to ask what to do if they couldn’t find the product you ordered. And they quoted prices that changed when the bill (which they didn’t want you to see arrived. . .some shoppers forgot to remove it). I questioned why my $147 order became over $150 on their website. “Oh, we can’t keep up with all the changing prices so we guesstimate the cost”. . .then when I asked “how is it the Publix bill shows the items purchased and they still tagged on an additional fee. The responses were “blah, blah, blah” B.S. Of course they have a membership fee (twice that of Shipt, BTW) and that’s how they screw you.. One poor gal spoke to us to warn about false charges, she was so upset. She was quitting. The company has no ethics and thinks people are generally stupid and don’t “read between the lines”. I told them we were canceling before our 2 free weeks of deliveries were up, they claimed to understand , it was a no obligation trial. The very next day they charged my MC for a year of deliveries ($149). I e-mailed them and said I had kept all of our e-mails, one agreeing to understand we weren’t continuing with the service. VERY NEXT DAY they charged my MC $149. Wrote them and said “do you REALLY want my credit company coming after you? I’ll sue if you mess with my (perfect) credit card rating. That refund was done immediately. Get the drift? Instacart is about over for good. We’ve had only good experiences with Shipt. Just a word of warning folks, but Google “Instacart Reviews” and have a field day. And I thought I had it bad. . .read some of the other reviews! HAH!!

hello! I would like to know more about becoming a Shipt deliverer? I could use the extra money since my husband was laid off, but currently work an 8-5 job. Could you answer, are the deliverers paid a base of $X an hour, or is it per delivery? Assuming all groceries are paid for ahead of time?
I currently am an Uber driver as well and love meeting the people and the experiences, wondering if I could combine the two!
    Thank you!

PLEASE bring Shipt to Louisiana, particularly South Louisiana or bring me to your corporate office and teach ME to be your Shipt Representative down here. We DO NOT have Publix stores here but we DO have many large chains, as well as family grocery stores that have spread to several cities which offer WONDERFUL hot & cold dishes or meals, which of course are cooked in our fantastic, traditional Southern or Cajun style Heck, our stores even feature boiled crawfish or shrimp in season!!!! Now who wouldn’t LOVE some of those delivered & ready to eat, with ALLLLLL the fixings (corn, potatoes, sausage & dip!!!!) for lunch or dinner? I would LOVE to speak with someone in your corporate office regarding this proposal so I ask that you please forward this to the appropriate person. I can be reached at 504-481-6517. Oh, and by the way, Cajun people LOVE to eat so chances are your business and orders down here would be larger and higher than in any other cities!!! I look forward to hearing from the appropriate person in your corporate office!!! Have a BLESSED Day!!! Janie Boudreaux

Just a question, Why are orders Tax Exempt? Is it because you are reselling them to the customer, and if so, is that not a pain to figure out the tax due to the state on the resale?

Do you guys realize how awesome you are?

    1) Your response to new applications is extremely fast. I applied on Sat, received an interview request Mon. afternoon, which I took Tues. morning. Less than 45 min after submitting my interview, I got the email saying I “have been selected to move forward in the shopper onboarding process!” I’ve filled out all of the paperwork, and now I’m only waiting on my background check. Woo!

    2) I wasn’t charged for the background check

    3) I read one of Shipt’s responses on The Shipt Show that shoppers will not pay for the groceries out of pocket (and then be reimbursed). Instead, they’ll get a company card. I honestly never expected that. Very cool!

And now 4) You give your shoppers free membership to use Shipt!

Because of this business model, I cannot resist the urge to advertise for Shipt. I belong to a huge mother’s group on Facebook, and not only would Shipt be an essential service for parents of young children (and pregnant women on bedrest), it would be a great income opportunity for stay-at-home moms (who would like to work outside the home fteam 0-20 hours per week, but only when their spouse is home to watch the kids).

Can’t wait to officially be part of the team!

Also this sounds great for students in college which I have one of lol. Is it safe is my main concern? I know no guarantees, but that is a concern going to people’s houses, they do not go in right? Do they have a photo ID to show who they are besides the shirt for the other side of the coin on safery? Sounds fun also, I assume the pay is straight and you pay for your own gas and their must be a formula as to how much you make an hour? I work full time but college is killing us lol. Thank you.

Hello I applied for Shipt Shopper. Had an interview with them thru videophone last year. On next day I received email from them. Informed me that they turned me down after interview. So, last night I decided to re-applied to be shopper. I contacted them through Live Chat this afternoon. Informed me that they are not accepting 2nd application and retake for interview. With my view that I disagreed with their policy. I believe that they should accept the 2nd application and retake for interview. My several friends who are deaf and hard of hearing are Shopper and love their job. I admitted that I am jealous of them bec they are shopper. Not me. I am hoping that the Shipt to make change the policy to accept the 2nd application. I would love to be Shopper. Bec I am too friendly and meet with customers to pleased with Shipt service.

Can a mom do this with her kids? Why did someone mention they were asked to pay $49 for training? Where is your FAQ page with the details about this system? Why aren’t most of these questions being answered? The only questions I see answered are your locations.

Hi, Mila! For more information on shopping with Shipt visit shipt.com/shopper. Click the chat bubble for immediate assistance with a live representative. Shoppers earn $15-$25 per hour on average. They are paid a percentage of the order plus $5, tips, and bonuses. Unfortunately, no one is allowed to accompany someone while they shop or deliver.
Members do have to pay to use the service, but there is not a fee for applying to shop or for education.

I’m in the process of becoming a Shipt shopper. My husband giggle joyously each time we say Shipt Shopper for some reason. We also looked at the available careers. He’s a product manager/regional manager in the auto industry with mega experience in quality and related fields. He has a business degree and engineering degree. I’m a retired middle school English teacher. Currently, we live in MI. We are from Nashville, TN and have friends and family in Birmingham. At first, we were simply goofing around, but the business looks solid.

I merely have a simple question today: As a shopper, can coupons be used to the shopper’s benefit, or to benefit the receiver?

We love to explore successful start-ups. We have friend who finances start-ups in Chattanooga. You guys look fantastic. When we both retire, we will be retiring to Nashville or Chattanooga. Who knows, maybe we would consider Birmingham.

We’ve enjoyed looking you over this cold and cloudy Saturday morning and wish you success and wellness. It’s a pleasure to see such genuineness, enthusiasm, and simplistic elegance in a new company. It looks like you have the equation for success! Keep on rockin’ with your bad selves!

Ok, I have done my interview and been accepted, this was like September or October of 2016, the only problem was that I was told that they weren’t offering in the Birmingham area just yet (even though the main office is in a high rise in Bham), just places like Hoover and Vestavia Hills. I told them that I can work those areas, just relocate me. But I was informed that you can’t change it. So now, every 3 wks I get some remind email saying “Shipt hasn’t forgot you…”. In the beginning, it was cute, now it is just annoying because I could have already been shopping for the company if someone would just PLEASE change the location I applied for. I have very reliable transportation and am willing to work any area that you need. Can someone please change my status so that I can work?
