Beyond grocery delivery and helping families save time, we want Shipt to be a force for good.
Back in September, we partnered with Feeding America in our #Give1Get1 canned food drive in support of Hunger Action Month. Shipt customers took to their smartphones and started ordering canned food items like it was going out of style. Shoppers volunteered to deliver, and we were able to provide 16,000 cans to those less fortunate. Looking back, we’re inspired by our community of members and shoppers who’ve taken initiative to give back in their own communities.
November is a time for giving. November also marks Shipt’s one-year birthday! We called on our Shipt family to help us celebrate by ordering their Thanksgiving essentials through Shipt in our #ShiptGiving campaign. Many of our shoppers gave their time to community initiatives.
We believe that you deserve a heart-felt thank you for efforts. Here are some of the #ShiptGiving highlights from November:
Cam Newton’s Thanksgiving in Charlotte
There was turkey, dressing, delicious mac-n-cheese and lots of dabbin’.
Shipt teamed up with Cam Newton, Second Harvest Food Bank, and more than 50 volunteers to serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal for nearly 900 underprivileged children in Charlotte.
Before digging into the huge Thanksgiving meal, Newton led a “dab” contest on stage with the kids performing his new signature move. The energy of 900 kids doing the dab with Cam Newton was truly incredible.
Our engineering team manned the serving line and reported seeing a few kids get second and third helpings! After 900 full bellies were bussed back to their families, there were enough leftovers to make a sizable donation to Angels and Sparrows’ local food bank in Charlotte.
High Risk Hope Tot Trot in Tampa
Shipt shoppers spent November 14th at Gadsden Park in Tampa raising funds for High Risk Hope and awareness to the global premature birth epidemic. It was an incredible experience helping to provide support, encouragement, information, and resources to women and families who are experiencing a high-risk pregnancy resulting in hospital bed rest, potential premature birth, and neonatal intensive care after delivery. We were very proud to sponsor High Risk Hope’s event and host a cookie decorating table. We look forward to continuing to work with High Risk Hope in the near future.
Bill Brooks’ Food Drive in South Florida
This year marks the 31st Annual BILL BROOKS’ FOOD FOR FAMILIES Community Food Drive in South Florida. We enjoyed sponsoring and volunteering at the event, which benefits Food for Families. Last year, Food for Families donated over 2 million pounds of food for local families in need. Our South Florida Shipt Shoppers had great time packing boxes at the all-day event!
#Give1Get1 with Feeding America in Miami
Thanks to our awesome members, we were able to donate 1,138 lbs of food to Feeding America in Miami. Thank you for purchasing #Get1Give1 canned items through the Shipt app! We will continue the #Get1Give1 canned food donations through December in each market. Be sure to monitor our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram channels in the coming weeks to see your contribution put to work. We’ll be posting photos and sharing stories as we donate all 16,000 items.
Again, thank you for helping make a difference.
