Simplicity in South Carolina
Once again, we find ourselves in college football rivalry territory with our newest launch city, Columbia, SC. Thankfully, we can all agree on one thing (actually, two things) – grocery shopping is a pain and grocery delivery is a necessity.
Although the Gamecocks are football foes with many in our Alabama headquarters, we have to take a moment and offer some respectful parting words to “The Old Ball Coach” – Steve Spurrier. He brought intensity and passion to the South Carolina program for ten years, and established a stellar reputation across the SEC and the NCAA. He announced his retirement in October 2015, and, soon after, left the program. Good luck, Coach – you’ll be missed.
Ok, moving on…
If you do decide to check out a Gamecocks game (absent Spurrier), keep in mind that the stadium is super close to downtown. The area is easy to navigate on foot and features plenty of great bars and restaurants, as well as the Columbia Museum of Art. Also, on Saturdays, downtown transforms into the Soda City, an artisanal market that features makers and craftsman from across the region. Raining? No problem. Soda City is open EVERY Saturday from 9:00am – 1:00pm, rain or shine.
If you want a different kind of artisanal experience, be sure to zip over to Pawley’s Front Porch. At Pawley’s, you can dig into over-the-top burgers, great beer and decadent fried dishes, such as the Low Country Eggrolls. The experience is great, but you may want to schedule a jog (or run) afterwards.
Need a scenic trail for your post-Pawley’s jog? Check out the Three Rivers Greenway. You can walk the pathway, explore the trails and even catch a performance at the Riverwalk Amphitheater. It’s an incredible natural space that features plenty of opportunities for relaxation and adventure. Pretty cool.
As we prepare to launch, our team is ready to continue exploring Columbia, while conveniently delivering groceries across town.
