How you can do your part

We believe that everyone deserves a respectful and safe environment. To support this, we expect that you avoid the following:

We define abusive language as any language that is used to demean, belittle, frighten, or humiliate another person which may make others feel unsafe, regardless of intent.


Examples of prohibited behavior include: 

  • Using obscene gestures, vulgarity, slurs, or insults directed at or near another person 
  • Expressing frustration by yelling or screaming at, or near, another person 
  • Having offensive words or profanity as your account name 

We define discrimination as behavior that insults, degrades or excludes another person based on their personal characteristics - such as ethnicity, religion, race, national origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, political ideology, or gender identity.  


Examples of prohibited behavior include: 

  • Using harmful stereotypes or mocking another person’s language or culture 
  • Making derogatory comments on another person’s sexual orientation or intentionally misgendering them  
  • Refusing to complete an order due to a person’s perceived political affiliation or beliefs

Every person is entitled to a sense of safety and security while using our platform across all interactions, whether in-person, via phone or chat.  


While shoppers are expected to deliver groceries to the customer’s specified address, Shipt does not require them to enter a customer’s home, and Shoppers may choose to decline any such request. 


Be mindful of personal space and property, refrain from making comments about another person’s appearance and avoid personal questions that can be perceived as intrusive. 


Examples of prohibited behavior include: 

  • Touching or grabbing another person 
  • Asking for or demanding cash or other payment
  • Implying or threatening to endanger or harm another person 
  • Entering another person’s property (including vehicles) without permission 
  • Threatening retaliation with a false report
  • Taking photos or video of another person or their property without consent
  • Making off-platform contact with another person (via social meda, in-person contact, phone, email, or mail) without their explicit consent 
  • Sharing personal or identifying information (such as name and delivery location) of another person 
  • Requiring or pressuring a shopper to enter a private residence 

Safety

Our community is built on trust and safety, and we want every person to feel safe and supported during the entirety of their Shipt experience.  

We encourage you to:  

  • Avoid littering 
  • Refrain from playing excessively loud music or audio/video content that could cause offense, while in the vicinity of others
  • Turn your porch lights on if it is dark, and keep pathways clear of obstructions 
  • Be weather aware, and mindful of delays that can occur during inclement weather

We define physical harm as conduct that threatens, causes, or creates risk to someone’s physical being and safety.


Examples of prohibited behavior include: 

  • Initiating aggressive physical contact with another person, animal, or property
  • Threatening to assault or assaulting another person, animal, or property  
  • Failing or refusing to secure pets or animals
  • Unlawful possession or brandishing of a firearm or weapon while utilizing the Shipt platform or on the property of a third-party retailer or a customer
  • Obstructing someone’s ability to leave the delivery location

Trust and safety extends to how a person treats an individual’s personal belongings, vehicles, and homes. If you mistakenly take or damage a person’s property, please report it to us immediately through proper secure channels so that we can assist. 


Examples of prohibited behavior include: 

  • Causing damage to someone’s vehicle, home, or personal property, whether intentionally or due to carelessness
  • Taking items such as packages, money, food, pets, etc. that do not belong to you 
  • Destroying or taking unauthorized items at a retail location 
  • Abandoning a vehicle on someone’s private property 

To ensure the safety of yourself and others, we require every member of the Shipt community to adhere to all applicable local and federal laws and regulations while using the Shipt platform. Any behavior that violates the law or poses a risk to others is strictly prohibited. 

Integrity

We expect each person in the Shipt community to act with integrity, accountability, and honesty. It is the responsibility of each individual to be aware of and abide by the agreements applicable to them in the Shopper App Access Guidelines or Terms of Service


To effectively protect our community, we require that all information shared with us is truthful and provided in good faith. We ask that you ensure that your information is up to date, do not share your credentials (including passwords) with others, take steps to secure your account information, and report suspicious activity to us immediately so that we can investigate and take action. 


In order to retain access to the Shipt platform, you are expected to avoid the following: 

Shoppers and Drivers commit to utilizing their own accurate identity to gain and maintain access to the Shipt app. Customers and Members agree to share true and accurate information to create and keep an account. 


Examples of prohibited behavior include: 

  • Allowing another person to use your information to make an account on the Shipt platform 
  • Allowing another person to perform deliveries on your behalf (including shopping, picking up packages, or dropping off orders) 
  • Selling your account information or account access to others 

Our dedicated teams are here to investigate and assist with support requests, account concerns, and safety reports.  


Examples of prohibited behavior include: 

  • Using technology or AI to falsify documentation to obtain an account, receive payment, refunds, credit or other compensation
  • Falsifying reports to avoid violations
  • Manipulating referrals or promotions for monetary gain 

Enforcement

Upon notification of behavior that violates these guidelines, Shipt will conduct a timely and thorough investigation into the reported behavior. Violating these guidelines can result in suspension, removal, or restriction of your access to the Shipt platform.
